- Woods is acting as trainer for Don Allen, who is still in the academy and who will be riding with Woods as his partner in Xray-14. Malloy and Reed's first impression about Allen is that he is competent, but nervous, those nerves which may or may not cause problems in the field. If those problems do manifest themselves, they will be in high pressure situations. Adam-12's first call takes them to a dispute between a landlord and a possible tenant, who was working through the landlord's broker. Only the broker may be able to clear up whether the landlord or tenant, if either, is in the wrong in this situation. Next, they are called to a pharmacy where a silent alarm went off. Malloy and Reed will learn that the pharmacist has an effective manner in dealing with armed robbers, his routine which usually results in him coming ahead in the situation. Finally, they are called to back-up Xray-14 in an armed robbery in progress. This call is only the latest that Malloy and Reed encounter Xray-14 during this shift. This last call in particular shows if Allen has what it takes to be a police officer. Something which Allen divulges about himself following this call may provide that answer.

Now, Cosa Nostra family leader Nolan Crist decides to cut Rogers off from further family support. Before the case ends, even Erskine's life will be in danger as first Rogers, then Rawl, become threats to the Cosa Nostra.

Barto hoped to avoid needless hassle by not telling his parents he's having sex with Sarah Weyman, whom he once met trough their match-making attempts, but when both sets of parents await them in the restaurant, her ma's nagging about a hickey makes her blurt out it's from Barto, and boy does he get pressured as he feared, as if they expect a wedding date, precisely what puts him off after his Audrey-trauma; he finds she also dates studly architect Patrick, so they decide to keep going out, nothing serious. Everybody is at the @-bar for Mikey's managerial take over-party. When he boasts in the morning the new office's comfy chair fits two, him and waitress Emily Cantor, to mate and business-partner Jill, who feels financier Dante breathing down his neck, Jill insists now they're bosses that's illegal; the love-birds decide to continue their intimacy after-hours elsewhere, Jill tells her that's still against policy, Mikey resists 'you're not my boss', but now it feels awkward for her anyway. Elisa learns presenting her boy-friends to the others is not always best, especially her shrink Peter McCray to neurotic Jack, who feels analyzed and nearly committed by him. After an overdose of Jack, Audrey is really ready to live alone.
- Police go to Phil's motel, but he's across the street, and people yell to the police where he is. Phil runs into the street, and is hit by a car. At the hospital, Phil tells Mack that Greg was behind the kidnapping, but Mack knows that he's lying. Phil dies. Peter is upset with Sylvia's drinking, because she talks too much. Sylvia says she wants Peter to get money from Abby for her, or she will tell a tabloid the truth, because she doesn't care who pays her as long as she gets money. Lotus Point has a grand re-opening. Paige spots Peter, and is definitely interested in him. Sylvia makes a drunken spectacle of herself. She has a "spell" and asks Peter to pick up a refill of her prescription. The pharmacist tells Peter that if Sylvia takes too many pills, it will cause cardiac arrest so Peter purposely gives her too many. Both Greg and Abby pressure Peter to join certain committees, but he stands up to each of them and refuses.
- After Hawkeye corrects a mistake that Colonel Potter made on a patient, Potter fears he's losing his touch badly enough to summon Dr. Sidney Freeman.
- Joey, a young man who helped Mannix out on a previous case, shows up in the detective's apartment, injured from a beating. Mannix hides Joey and gets a call out to the police just before the apartment is overrun by hoods. Mannix is beaten and when he wakes up, Joey is gone. As the detective follows the trail, an organized front tries to buy Mannix off with a trip to Hong Kong on a supposed case. It turns out that the target of all this is a judge, whose daughter is in love with Joey. The syndicate wants to pressure the judge to move the site of a trial for an organized crime figure who is beginning to talk.
